Succulent Wreath

Being a pinterest pinner addict, and a succulent obsessive it wasn't going to be long before i created my first succulent wreath.

They are so easy to make and require very little equipment. The succulents can be very budget friendly too as the mother plant produces lots of babies which can be grown on to become new mother plants.

Ingredients

  • wire wreath frame -shape of your choice
  • spagnum moss
  • binding wire
  • wire hair pins
  • pencil or stem/stick of similar size
  • decorative items if you wish

Method

  • add a cushion of moss onto the frame by creating dense sausage wedges and binding to frame with the binding wire.
  • add a loop of wire to act as a hanging hook.
  • detach the succulents from soil ( they will form roots into the moss.
  • make holes with a pencil/stick to poke the stem of the succulent into the moss, fix succulent into place with a few hair pin wires.
  • repeat over the surface allowing room for growth.
  • hot glue on any embellishments and your piece is finished.

Care

now float wreath on water so its fully soaked and leave horizontal for at least two weeks to encorage root growth and anchorage into the moss.
soak the wreath weekly. possibly less in colder weather. The design should last a year.
